THACKERVILLE, Okla. – Texas Wesleyan Women's Golf alum Alexis Belton advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 World Long Drive Championship, held at WinStar World Casino & Resort. The event concludes tonight and will crown champions from three separate divisions.

The longest hitters in the world will compete tonight for the WLD Championship belt. Our own Alexis Belton will be among those golfers.

Go long or go home is the attitude of the adrenaline fueled World Long Drive Championship. It's big. It's loud. It's contested under the lights from WinStar World Casino & Resort and televised live in prime time on Golf Channel starting at 8:30 p.m. eastern.

Belton, a TXWES graduate with a degree in marketing, currently ranks fourth in the world. She has already won two WLD events this season, the most recent win coming at the Tennesssee Big Shots event on August 12. Belton beat out reigning champion Phillis Meti with a 328-yard drive.
Belton won her first WLD event in the 2018 Clash in the Canyon in Las Vegas.

The Volvik World Long Drive Championship has produced dozens of Champions in the 40+ years since the competition was first staged in 1976. Winners of the annual event (Open, Masters, Women's Divisions) each currently receive a corresponding Championship belt that recognizes their place atop the sport for the given year.

Tune-in to the Golf Channel tonight at 8:30 p.m., or take the short drive up to Thackerville to see the action in person.

Texas Wesleyan Athletics would like to wish Lady Ram Alexis Belton all the best as she competes for the championship belt tonight.
