HELOTES, Texas - The Texas Wesleyan Men's and Women's Tennis teams will each play in the Rid River Conference Athletic Championship final after a pair of 4-0 wins over the University of the Southwest.
The Rams made short work of the Mustangs in the first semifinal match of the day, getting an easy doubles point after USW defaulted the Doubles #3 match. In single play, another default meant the Rams needed just two wins to seal the match. Andres Gonzales posted a 6-1, 6-1 win in Singles #1, while
Arthur Voiseux got a 6-1, 6-2 win in the Singles #4 match to clinch the win for TXWES.
The Lady Rams earned the doubles points after
Thamara Pinto and Cailtin Souvannavong took a 6-2 win in Doubles #2 before
Aurora Novati and Kara Antonio notched a 6-4 win in the Doubles #1 match-up.
Novati, Souvannavong, and Ceclia Salazar were the quickest to wins in singles play, while the Salazar win was the deciding point. Novati earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kea Sandoval in the Singles #1 match-up, Souvannavong went 6-2 6-2 in Singles #2, and Salazar posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in Singles #5.
The Rams will take on Texas A&M Texarkana, while the Lady Rams will play LSU - Alexandria tomorrow morning to decide who takes home the RRAC Crown.
