EDMOND, Okla. – The Texas Wesleyan University Women's Golf shot a team best 304 in the final round of the 2021 NAIA Championship at Rose Creek Golf Club to finish 16th at 1241.
Yesterday, the 30-team, 154-individual field was cut to 17 teams and individual medalists in top 40.
Brooke Sullivan finished in a share of 38th to lead the Lady Rams. She hit 307 (77-77-74-79) with seven birdies and 44 pars.
Kate Adelmann finished tied for 41st at +20 (308), knocking in 38 pars and led the team with nine birdies. She shot a personal tournament low of 75 today.
Emily Hunt led the team in the final round with a 1-over 73 performance. Hunt was a par machine, collecting 15 to go along with one birdie on the 384-yard par 4 first hole. For the tournament, she finished tied for 49th at +22 (310). Hunt led the team with 47 pars, and tallied four birdies during the tourney.
Annaka Watts finished in a share of 79th after shooting +32 (320), while
Aubrey Zastoupil finished 85th at +35 (323).
TXWES posted a scoring average of 3.31 on par 3's, 4.36 on par 4's, and 5.40 on par 5's. The team notched 210 pars – ninth among the 17-team field, 24 birdies, and two eagles.
Keiser (Fla.) is earned the NAIA's Red Banner after running away with a 19 stroke lead at +32 (1184). Taylor (Ind.) was the runner-up at +51 (1203). Southeastern (Fla.) was third at +52 (1204), while Dalton State and Oklahoma City tied for fourth at +59 (1211) to round out the top 5.
Campbellsville's Gracie Parrott won the individual championship at 1-under (287) in the four round tournament. Golfers from nine different teams represented the top 10 individual finishers.
This is the sixth consecutive appearance at the NAIA Championship for the Lady Rams. The team has finished as high as fourth in 2016. The team heads into the off-season as the defending SAC champs.
