PFLUGERVILLE, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan men's cross country team competed at the Concordia Classic on Friday night. The Runnin' Rams finished fourth out of 15 teams, racing against a field of 142.
The men's cross country team competed in their first event in two years, and head coach Nat Amare was pleased with the re-start performance.
"I'm very proud of the guys and the way they competed today," said Amare. "Conditions were great, it was a beautiful evening, and the course was nice."
Denzel Kiptoo led the team through the 8k course, finishing 10th with a time of 26:43.7.
Andrew Zurita finished at 14th with a time of 26:52.0.
Jamon Smith finished in 21st place with a time of 27:15.2.
Kajon Parris finished in 31st place with a time of 28:15.8.
Charles Dorsett came in 34th place with a time of 28:38.1.
The men racked up a total score of 97 team points Friday night, running with NCAA DII and DIII teams. St. Edward's took the top spot with 44 team points, followed by LeTourneau (47), and Southwestern Univ. (79). SAC mate SAGU finished 9th.
Next week, the team is heads to San Antonio for the University of Incarnate Word Invite on Saturday, October 2.
