LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan men's and women's track & field teams got some work in at the Jarvis Scott Open, hosted by Texas Tech at Sports Performance Center on Friday.
Five athletes took part in seven events. Three from the men's team,
Perry Brown,
Andrew Zurita and
Jamon Smith, and two from the women's team,
Alysa Henderson and
Ray Vidales, raced against programs spanning nearly every NCAA division along with additional NAIA institutions on Friday night.
Brown, Smith, and Henderson all saw their first action of the 2022 Indoor season.
Brown turned in the most competitive showing of the TXWES runners in the 60 meter dash, finishing 30th among 53 runners with a time of 7.22.
Ray Vidales will take part in the 42nd Annual NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship in the 800 meter run. The senior is an A standard qualifier and currently holds the sixth fastest time in the NAIA at 2:14.41. The national championship runs from March 2-5 in Brookings, S.D.
