FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan Track and Field head coach
Randy Dalzell announced the signing of Martin Murillo out of Arlington Sam Houston in Arlington, Texas. Murillo is the first local male athlete that Dalzell has signed since being hired as head coach.
Murillo's personal best time is in the 5k XC is 16:36. Murillo finished 10th overall at the UIL 6A District 8 meet and is the #2 runner on his high school team. Murillo has a GPA of 3.7.
Randy Dalzell with his thoughts on the signing of Murillo, "We are very excited to add Martin to our men's program. He is the first of many local high school athletes that we are adding to our program. He is not only a very talented runner, but a great student, and a perfect fit for our program. He is geared toward longer distance events, which will suit him well for men's college cross country at the 8K distance as well as the longer 5K and 10K track events that college track and field offers," said Dalzell. "He should contribute to all three sports in our program – cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field."Â
Murillo's intended major is business. Track and Field will compete in its first meet of the outdoor season in the Wes Kittley Invitational at Abilene Christian University on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19.
