LAS VEGAS, NV-- The no. 9 ranked Texas Wesleyan women's golf team is in fifth place after 18 holes of competition on day 1 of The Paiute Battle with
Malisone Chanthapanya leading the way tied for thirteenth place.
As a team the Lady Rams shot 339 in round 1 and 51 over par. British Columbia is in first place after shooting a tournament best 328, Embry Riddle is in second place after shooting 329, Ottawa University is in third place after shooting 333, and Our Lady of the Lake is in fourth after shooting 338.
TXWES was led by
Malisone Chanthapanya who finished round 1 tied for thirteenth after shooting a team high 83. The team had two birdies and 34 pars. Chanthapanya finished the day 11 over par.
Emily Isaacson also finished tied for thirteenth place shooting 83 and 11 over par. Isaacson also made one birdie.
Brooke Sullivan and
Piper Frisbie both finished tied in 29th place shooting 86 and 14 over par.
Emily Hunt finished tied for forty-first place shooting a score of 89 and 17 over par.
British Columbia led the way with 39 pars, Embry Riddle had a tournament high 9 birdies, and Rocky Mountain College, Schrener University, Oregon Tech, and British Columbia all sunk one eagle each.
TXWES will look to climb the standings on day 2 of The Paiute Battle on Tuesday, March 22 with tee-time set for an early start in the morning.
