FORT WORTH -- Head Coach Randy Dalzell announced the signing of Rabi Mubarak of Doha, Qatar. Mubarak graduated from Albilad Secondary School and will be a freshman majoring in Sport Science/Kinesiology. Mubarak has personal bests of 1:18.92 in the 600m indoors, 1:46.40 in the 800m outdoors, 2:23.99 in the 1000m and 3:46.02 in the 1500m. His personal bests in the 800m and 1500m would have won the NAIA outdoor national meet this past spring. His 1000m personal best time also have won the NAIA indoor 1000m this past indoor season.
Coach Dalzell's thoughts on the addition of Mubarak to the men's program:
"Rabi is a very talented middle distance runner who could be a huge impact athlete for our men's team for cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. He has such good range and leg speed that there are a number of events he could be a national contender in during indoor and outdoor season as well as contribute to the relays. There aren't that many 1:46 800m and 3:46 1500m guys around in college track and field, so for us to get one is a great addition to our program! I very excited for Rabi to get here and get settled in to a nice training routine with our guys as well as get oriented to our campus environment and become a vital part of our campus community."
