FORT WORTH, Texas: Texas Wesleyan University is proud to announce that standout golfer Malisone Chanthapanya has been selected to compete as an individual in the prestigious 2023 NAIA Women's Golf Championship. The tournament is scheduled from May 23 to 26, 2023, at the renowned TPC Deer Run in Silvis, IL.
Chanthapanya, a sophomore at Texas Wesleyan, has consistently demonstrated her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport throughout her collegiate career. With an impressive record of accomplishments, including multiple tournament victories and all-conference honors, she has proven to be one of the finest golfers in the nation.
"As disappointed as I am for the team to miss out this year, I'm extremely proud of Mali for qualifying as an individual," Head Coach Kevin Millikan said. "Her work ethic and dedication to the game have earned her recognition as one of the top players in the NAIA, and I know we're both excited to see what she can accomplish this week."
The NAIA Women's Golf Championship is widely regarded as one of the premier collegiate golf events, attracting top talent from across the country. Chanthapanya's selection as an individual participant is a testament to her outstanding abilities and the immense respect she has earned within the golfing community.
"It's great to see Malisone earn her way into the National Championships. She can play with anyone in the country and has a real shot to make a run at the title," Athletic Director Ricky Dotson said. "We are extremely proud of her accomplishments both on the course and in the classroom. I think she will play extremely well and represent Texas Wesleyan in a great way."
Chanthapanya is scheduled to start the tournament on Tuesday at 2 pm on the tenth hole. She will play with two other golfers, Serah Khanyereri of St. Thomas and Hannah Ulibarri of the Masters.
