August 6, 2023 - Head Coach Randy Dalzell announced the signing of another outstanding junior college distance runner, North Central Texas College's Douglas Kiprotich. Kiprotich has personal bests of 1:55 for 800m and 3:58 for 1500m. In 2023 he won the East Texas Quad meet in the 1500m, the East Texas Invitational 1500m, the HSU Invitational in the 1500m, and the OBU Invitational in the 1500m. Kiprotich also has run 26:24 for 8K cross country. He will be a junior in cross country, a freshman in indoor track and field, and a junior in outdoor track and field. He is a junior academically, majoring in psychology.
 
"We are very excited to add Douglash to our men's distance group for 2023-2024. He really improved during his time at NCTC and became an especially competitive 1500m runner and a good 800m runner as well," Dalzell said. "We will have him training with our middle-distance group but we also hope to improve his cross-country potential as we build his base of mileage to complement his middle-distance speed. I think he can really help us in cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. I'm glad he has found a home to finish his degree and contribute to our overall team as part of the men's distance group."
