WGOLF: Texas Wesleyan Falls in Playoff at Battling in the Desert

HOBBS — Texas Wesleyan University's women's golf team delivered a stellar performance at the Battling in the Desert tournament, tying Oklahoma City at +33 after three rounds and forcing a playoff at Rockwind Community Links Golf Course on Sept. 30.

The Lady Rams showcased their depth and resilience, posting a final-round even-par score in the playoff's first hole, but Oklahoma City clinched the title with a 2-under score. Texas Wesleyan's strong showing was highlighted by standout individual performances, with Makena Junkin finishing tied for second at +5 and Natalie Miksovska securing third at +6.

Junkin's consistent play included a 2-under second round, while Miksovska fired an even-par final round to climb the leaderboard. Lucia Larruscain (T6, +9), Corrina Griffin (8th, +10), Sofia Gorgees Baeta (T15, +16), and Jordan Pillay (T19, +20) also contributed to the Lady Rams' impressive effort, demonstrating their competitive spirit against a talented field.

Oklahoma City's Logan Allen claimed the individual title with a +1 total, edging out Junkin and Miksovska with steady play across three rounds.

The Rams return to the course on Oct 13 and 14 at the Battle at Winter Creek in Chickasha, OK.
