FORT WORTH — As Texas Wesleyan prepares for the NAIA National Championships on May 13-16, 2025, at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, MI, sophomore standout Makena Junkin has emerged as a pivotal force in the Rams' ascent to national prominence.
Currently ranked No.16 in the NAIA individual golfer rankings by Clippd, Junkin has demonstrated remarkable consistency and poise throughout her second season. Her impressive season includes five individual titles, two third-place finishes, a fourth-place finish, a sixth-place finish and a 17th-place finish. These achievements have been instrumental in propelling Texas Wesleyan to the No. 7 spot in the national team rankings.
"Makena's maturity and composure on the course are beyond her years," said Head Coach Kevin Millikan. "Her ability to perform under pressure has been a significant asset to our team."
Complementing Junkin's efforts are seasoned players such as seniors Salome Arango Marin and Raeleigh Davidson, who bring valuable experience and leadership to the squad. Juniors Natalie Miksovska and Lucia Larruscain have also made notable contributions, showcasing the team's depth and versatility.
Coach Long selected senior Addie Poulin as an adviser and potential alternate for the upcoming championship.
On Day 1 of the Championship, the Rams are scheduled to tee off from the No. 1 hole at 8:20, 8:30, 8:40, 8:50, and 9:00 a.m. On Day 2, they will begin play from the No. 10 hole at 1:20, 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, and 2:00 p.m.
