Le Mars – Texas Wesleyan University's women's golf team showcased their prowess at the Northwest Iowa National Invitational Tournament, held September 15-16, 2025, at Willow Creek Golf Course. The Rams clinched the team title with an impressive 11-under-par total, finishing six strokes ahead of runner-up Embry-Riddle (AZ) in the NAIA event hosted by Morningside University.
Leading the charge for Texas Wesleyan was Makena Junkin, who tied for second place individually with a stellar 9-under-par 207. Junkin's consistent performance included rounds of 66 (-6), 68 (-4), and 73 (+1), narrowly missing the top spot by three strokes to Master's Hannah Ulibarri. Her steady play set the tone for the Rams' dominant team effort.
Sophomore Natalie Miksovska delivered a strong showing, finishing at 3-under-par with rounds of 71 (-1), 76 (+4), and 66 (-6), tying for sixth place. Miksovska's final-round 66 was a highlight, showcasing her ability to navigate the challenging Willow Creek layout.
Lucia Larruscain contributed a solid +4 total, carding rounds of 70 (-2), 73 (+1), and 77 (+5), placing 13th. Corrina Griffin, competing as an individual, finished at +5, while Sofia Gorgees Baeta added a +7 total, highlighted by a strong final-round 71 (-1). Jordan Pillay rounded out the Rams' lineup with a +8 finish, rebounding with a 67 (-5) in the second round.
Texas Wesleyan's victory came against a competitive field of eight NAIA teams, with Oklahoma City finishing a distant third, +24 points behind.
The Rams wil next compete September 29 and 30 at the Battle in the Desert hosted by the University of the Southwest.
