OKLAHOMA CITY — No. 16 Texas Wesleyan captured the team title at the Kyle Blaser Invitational on Tuesday, posting a two-round total of 50-over par to finish five strokes ahead of No. 19 Oklahoma City University as round three was canceled because of weather at Gaillardia Country Club.
The Rams opened with a +22 team score Monday and followed with +28 Tuesday to secure the victory in the NAIA event hosted by OCU. Texas Wesleyan's lineup of golfers delivered the consistent scoring needed to hold off the field in difficult conditions that included strong Oklahoma winds, with the full group of Rams competitors contributing to the championship total through steady play across the 36 completed holes.
Oklahoma City placed second. Other top-five teams included strong showings from programs such as OUAZ (noted near the +22 mark in early standings), USAO (University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) around +34 and Bellevue also in contention near +34, rounding out the leaders in the competitive field.
Individually, the top non-Texas Wesleyan performers were led by Oklahoma City senior Logan Allen, who won the title with rounds of 75-75 for a 150 total (6-over par), including three birdies and a clutch birdie on her final hole. Teammate Klaudie Karnikova (OCU) tied for sixth at 15-over (159), while other notables outside the Rams included Taylor Tevis and Gracie Levonitis (both OCU, tied for 27th at 27-over/171) and Carrie Bowers (OCU, 30th at 28-over/172).
Texas Wesleyan returns to competition March 31–April 1 at The Golf Club at Chino Ranch, participating in the National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by the Women in Golf Foundation.
