LUBBOCK, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (1-1-1) settled with a 1-1 draw at Lubbock Christian (3-0-1) on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams made the one hour drive (approximately) from Plainview to Lubbock eager to bounce back against LCU less than 24 hours after taking a hard fought, controversial loss to Wayland Baptist.
Both teams played organized football and the match was scoreless for the first ten minutes when a header by TJ Romaguera was saved but deflected. Ivan Kovacevic got the rebound and was fouled in the box. Kovacevic put the penalty kick in to take a 1-0 lead.
The Chaps leveled the game in the 33rd on a goal from Adam Goodnight.
The Rams and Chaps gave away nothing else as the two teams played the rest of regulation and two overtime period resulting in the 1-1 draw.
There were six yellow cards given throughout the contest.
The Rams come home to play Science and Arts (OK) on Tuesday, September 11th at 4:00 p.m.
