FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (16-7, 4-2 RRAC) snagged up two conference victories in the double header against LSU-Shreveport (12-7, 3-3 RRAC) with a 12-8 win in game one before following up with 6-5 victory in game two at LaGrave Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
This marks the first conference sweep of the season for Texas Wesleyan, as the Rams also won the first game in the three game series 5-1, which started on Friday.
 
The Rams blazed out to a dominating lead early in the first game, scoring all of their 12 runs in the first two innings. David Kiriakos put the first point on the board for the Rams scoring on a Joel Rickman single down the left field line. A Jake Howeth single to right center brought in an RBI to give the Rams a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
 
Kiriakos brought in a RBI with a double to left center in the bottom of the second, which started the hot scoring streak for the Rams. Alex Padilla was walked to first base which brought Trevor Moon to home plate to give the Rams a 4-0 advantage.
 
Kiriakos scored on a single down the right field line from Rickman to add the next point on the board for the Rams. Howeth hit a single to center field for an RBI ran in by Brian Whiteto make the score 6-0.
 
After Dusty Harper brought in the next RBI with a single to left field, Jake Davis hit a single down the right field line which brought in another RBI and another run, as Rickman scored due to an error in the right field.
 
With Texas Wesleyan well ahead at 9-0, Kiriakos slammed in a double to the left field for three RBI's to give the Rams a 12-0 advantage after the second inning.
 
The Pilots started to fight their way back into the game scoring their first run in the third inning to inch their way up the scoreboard. Greg Friesen brought in two RBI's in the fourth inning with a single up the middle to put the score at 12-3.
 
Going into the top of the 7th, the Rams still held the advantage over the Pilots 12-6. Ridge Gonsoulin hit a homerun over the fence for two RBI's to make it a 12-8 game.
 
Sam Martin received the win in game one for the Rams. Martin is now 4-0 on the season.
 
After going scoreless the first three innings in game two, Padilla brought in the first RBI as Charles Tabone scored on a single out to center field. A Rickman single to the left field brought in the next RBI to give the Rams a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.
 
An error from the second baseman led to the next two points for the Rams, as Howeth and Padilla crossed home plate to give the Rams a 4-0 lead going into the fifth inning.
 
White hit his third homerun of the season in the bottom of the fifth to help the Rams hold on to the lead at 5-2.
 
In the top of the ninth inning, the Rams held a 6-4 lead over the Pilots. Ridge Gonsoulin hit a single down to the right field line for a RBI to put on the board, but the Pilots would not edge any closer.
 
Texas Wesleyan never trailed in the series with the Pilots.
 
Sean Simonz earned the win for the Rams in game two. Simonz is now 3-1 on the season.
 
Texas Wesleyan will return to the field on Friday, March 8 as the Rams travel to play Jarvis Christian College (11-7, 4-1 RRAC) for another three game series. The first game is set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
