Box Score The Rams beat Oklahoma City University 25-19, 25-19, 13-25, 25-13 in their final home game of the regular season.
The win improves the Rams' record to 23-3 overall and 18-1 in conference. The Eagles fall to 12-12 overall and 10-7 in conference play.
The Rams used a solid offensive and defensive game to beat the Stars with 53 kills to Oklahoma City's 34. Kendal King led the Rams' balanced attack once again with 10 kills. King also helped out defensively with four blocks, while Carly Unruh and Lauran Richards had eight kills each. Ruby O'Brien provided the Rams with 24 assists and led the defense with 19 digs. Andrea Malek had 18 digs each.
In the first set, the Rams jumped out to an early 8-3 lead before the Stars began to chip away. Texas Wesleyan was able to hold the lead behind the solid defense and a balanced net attack. At 20-19, the Rams took the ball with a side out and held on to win 25-19.
In the second set the Stars took the early 6-3 lead before Texas Wesleyan brought he game within one point. The two teams tied or traded leads five times before the Rams took the lead and held it. The Stars tried to capitalize on Texas Wesleyan errors but were never able to regain the lead after the Rams took the lead at 11-10 following a Richards kill. From then, it was Stars hitting errors that set the Rams up with a lead that held. Texas Wesleyan won the second set 25-19.
The third set saw a turn in momentum as Texas Wesleyan fell victim to hitting errors. The Rams kept the game close in the early going, but they were never able to recover after multiple hitting errors left them behind. Texas Wesleyan had 12 hitting errors in the third set alone, while the Stars had 10 kills, giving Oklahoma City the 25-13 win.
In the fourth set, the Stars kept the game close in the very early stages, but Texas Wesleyan took over at 4-4 capitalizing on Oklahoma City errors and adding seven kills to take a 15-6 lead. The Stars could never recover, and Texas Wesleyan took the 25-13 win and the match 3-1.
Texas Wesleyan plays its last two regular season games on the road. On Nov. 1, they travel to Waxahachie for a 6 p.m. game against their rivals the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions, who are undefeated this season and ranked #8 in NAIA.
On Nov. 4, the Rams end the regular season against John Brown University at 6 p.m. in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The Rams still sit in second place in SAC behind SAGU and were ranked #24 in the latest NAIA national poll.
