FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan women's wrestling team (7-1) defeated Wayland Baptist (1-1) 36-7 on Wednesday evening at the Sid Richardson Center.
Junior
Madison Brown dominated the 101 match with a 12-2 win by a tech-fall against Malarie Dominguez (WBU) which gave the Lady Rams a 4-0 lead after one match. Brown is nationally ranked at #4 in the 101 weight class.
Sophomore
Camille Fournier impressed in the 116 match with a 12-1 win by a tech-fall against Joniesha Kennedy (WBU) which extended the TXWES lead to 8-4 after three matches.
Freshman
Devin Patton gained five points in the 123 match with a win by forfeit. Sophomore
Lexi Basham dominated in the 130 match with a 10-0 win by a tech-fall against Aspen DeHerrera (WBU) which gave TXWES a 17-4 lead over WBU after 5 matches.
Sophomore
Mea Mohler ousted De'anna Prince (WBU) in the 136 match by a fall-over to push the Lady Rams lead to 22-4.
Aalyah Villareal won the 170 match by a 6-0 decision against Olivia Ricci (WBU.)
Brittyn Corbishley snagged 5 points with a win by forfeit in the final match of the dual.
The Lady Rams move to 1-4 all-time against the Pioneers. TXWES will compete in the SAC tournament on Tuesday, March 1 at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City.
