OKLAHOMA CITY — Texas Wesleyan University was picked ninth in the 2026 Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Lady Rams received 19 points in the preseason poll, which was led by co-favorites John Brown and Science & Arts with 76 points apiece. Both teams received five first-place votes.
Oklahoma City was third with 65 points, followed by Mid-America Christian with 59, Southwestern Christian with 44, Nelson with 39, Wayland Baptist with 31 and Panhandle State with 30. Central Christian rounded out the poll in 10th with 10 points.
John Brown enters the 2026 season as the defending SAC regular-season and tournament champion after posting a 15-2-4 overall record and a 7-0-2 mark in conference play last season. The Golden Eagles advanced to the NAIA Tournament before falling in the national quarterfinals.
Science & Arts matched John Brown with 76 points and five first-place votes after finishing 13-4-5 overall and 6-0-3 in SAC play in 2025. The Drovers finished as conference tournament runners-up and advanced to the NAIA Tournament before falling in the opening round.
Oklahoma City finished third in the preseason poll after going 14-3-2 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play last season. The Stars advanced to the SAC tournament semifinals before falling to Science & Arts.
Texas Wesleyan will be represented during the SAC's 2026 Fall Sports Virtual Media Days at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday by head coach Kate Bond and Maribel Vargas. The virtual media day will be conducted by SAC Assistant Commissioner Jim Powers and streamed on the Urban Edge Network.
